The BAR bonding scheme provides similar customer protection to that of ABTA. We do not recommend shipping your vehicle with a non-bonded (non-BAR Overseas) shipping company.

They offer 20 ft or 40 ft FCL 'sole use' container services, with only your vehicle(s) in the container, to various ports in Australia and New Zealand. This involves your car being secured within a container with straps and wheel chocks to hold it in place. Your vehicle is fully enclosed in transit by a 4 inch (10 cm) timber frame. You effectively pay for the sole use of the container, for your vehicle(s) only.

A number of options are available - at an extra cost - should you have other goods and wish to ship them to New Zealand.

Your vehicle should be protected by their Standard Liability for the full replacement cost at destination. If you protect your vehicle shipment for less than the overseas destination value, any claim may be 'averaged' out, and only a proportion of any such claim paid. If in doubt, please consult their Auto Export Department who will be pleased to assist. Standard Liability protection for vehicles is available at a rate of 2% of the full destination replacement value as declared by you.
