Education in Morocco

The education system in Morocco is free and compulsory from the ages of 7 (open to children as young as 4 years old) to 13 years old. There is a basis in the French system and students must pass Certificate d'études primaires to be eligible for admission in lower secondary schools.

There are 3 basic tracks:

• Modern Track - Continuation of the French system
• Original Track - Koranic teachings
• Technical Track - Education for the workforce

There are issues with the education system as many children do not continue their full educatio. Only about 50 percent of Moroccans are literate with a higher percentage among males than females.

International Schools

There is usually local population, as well as an international student body. Schools may follow a curriculum model from the US, UK, France, etc. Primary instruction may be any language (and multiple languages are usually taught), but it is usually in English.
