Khartoum American School, founded in 1957, is an international school in the capital of Sudan. The school features an American/international curriculum that strives to be student-centred and inquiry-based. The school is a full member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is accredited jointly through CIS and the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA). While originally founded to offer education to the children of US diplomats in Khartoum, KAS has broadened its mission to include students from other embassies as well as from the growing international community in Khartoum. There are currently 240 students from 44 countries studying at KAS. The Early Childhood division offers schooling to children as young as 2 years old, through preschool. The Elementary School encompasses kindergarten. Middle School (grades 6-8) serves young adolescents and the High School division offers a college-preparatory education to students in grades 9-12.

Unity High School is an independent, co-educational and multi-racial school which serves the needs of both the Sudanese and Expatriate families in Khartoum. The school applies the English National Curriculum plus Arabic and Religion overview (either Christian or Islam). Unity High School operates a 13 year programme. The Primary School covers Years 1-6, for ages 5-11. The Secondary School covers Years 7-11, for ages 11-16. The post-16 programme covers Years 12 and 13, for ages 16-18. Children will be admitted into year level for which their age qualifies them. The school year runs from August 1st to 31st July of the following year.
